Description
The Facility Supervisor is responsible for maintaining all the facilities of Camp Ocean Pines. Our mission is to foster enjoyment and appreciation of the natural world among all people through creative activities in a residential camp setting. The Camp is 13 acres of coastal land, with over 20 buildings/structures on site. Our year-round programs encourage people to Connect, Explore, and Grow through summer camp, adult workshops, outdoor education, and retreat space for other organizations. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Facility Supervisor are responsible for a safe, clean, sanitary, usable, and well-maintained facility, and must plan for, prioritize, and complete projects and assignments in these areas. They employ staff, volunteers, and outside contractors. As a member of the management team, the Facility Supervisor shares responsibility for overall Camp operations and success. Success measured by guest satisfaction, high quality facilities, and cost effective service delivery. Candidates must be able to perform the following functions unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation: * Maintain the major physical components of Camp Ocean Pines, including buildings, grounds, vehicles, major equipment, and utilities, as determined by laws/ regulations, American Camp Association standards, and Camp's expectations and needs * Perform routine maintenance and janitorial duties, to maintain a clean and orderly campus * Anticipate changing needs of facility due to weather, programs, etc. and organize work accordingly * Recruit, hire, supervise, and develop necessary staff and volunteers, and direct them for success * Arrange for necessary outside vendors and contractors for supplies, specialty repairs/projects, etc. * Acquire, organize, and maintain necessary supplies, equipment, and materials to maintain the facility * Safely use the required hand tools, power tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials (including chemicals), and supervise others in their safe use * Help establish and maintain health and safety policies, standards, procedures, and practices of Camp Ocean Pines * Keep necessary records, as required by Executive Director, inspectors, American Camp Association, etc. * Communicate with inspectors, regulatory agencies, etc. to ensure compliance with laws and regulations * In consultation with Executive Director, plan and organize necessary short-, medium, and long-term capital improvement projects * Communicate effectively with guests, staff, vendors, and contractors from a range of ages, backgrounds, and lived experiences * As needed for completion of tasks, work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays * Position may require lifting/moving heavy items, bending and crouching, walking over uneven ground, climbing, and reaching for items in higher locations. Must be able to lift and move up to 80 pounds. * Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: * Must be 21+ years old. * 4+ years experience in maintenance, groundskeeping, janitorial, or other facilities work * Working knowledge in a variety of facilities components: plumbing, carpentry, painting, construction, electrical, flooring, roofing, landscaping, equipment repair, HVAC, arborist work, etc. * Current First Aid/CPR certification prior to start date * Current California Food Handlers certificate prior to start date * Successfully complete a background check and LiveScan fingerprints * English-language oral and written communication skills * Competency with computers; Google suite preferred * Maintain a positive attitude in complex situations after working long hours * Comfortable giving and receiving feedback * Adjust quickly to changes with open mind and flexibility * Recognize and respond to emergency situations * Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters if eligible and testing at regular intervals after start * A commitment to the goals and philosophy of Camp Ocean Pines * A commitment to equity and inclusion, and creating a positive community work culture * Valid US driver's license and a good driving record; ability to operate a tractor, or ability/willingness to acquire Preferred: * California Class-B Drivers License * Conversational or better skill in Spanish * Experience working with a camp, residential outdoor education program, or other youth-serving organization * Extensive skills in one or more areas of facilities: plumbing, carpentry, painting, construction, electrical, flooring, roofing, landscaping, equipment repair, HVAC, arborist work, etc. * Experience as a supervisor or manager in facilities management * Experience in project management, capital replacement, planning, or similar
