NEW YORK CITY — One Google search trended in New York City above all others in 2020, a year dominated by the coronavirus pandemic: "election results."
Yes, the election contest between President Donald Trump and now President-elect Joe Biden grabbed the top trending search title, according to results released Wednesday by Google.
But "coronavirus" — the tiny yet hugely disruptive deadly virus — wasn't far behind. It was the second top trending search.
Trending searches aren't the same as top searches, according to Google's search experts. They're queries that had a high spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2020 as compared to 2019.
What they provide is a snapshot of topics that gripped New Yorkers during a year most, if not all, never want to relive.
