PLEASE APPLY IN PERSON - WITH RESUME BETWEEN 10 AM AND 4 PM 5714 CURLEW DR, NORFOLK Job Title: Packing and Labeling Associate Reporting Relationship: Reports to: Packing and Labeling Supervisor Supervises: None Job Summary: The Packing and Labeling Associate is responsible for making up boxes, labeling, packing or repacking products on a production line. Also includes stamping boxes, labeling or relabeling already packaged goods, counting cases, stacking boxes on pallets, and stretch wrapping pallets. Additional duties include cleaning and disposing of waste boxes. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Packing/Repacking: Pack or repack products based on established procedures and guidelines as set forth for each project. Ensure finished pallets are stacked with the proper TI and HI, wrapped with stretch film and properly labeled with lot identification. May include use of Bag Sealing equipment, Vacuum Packer or other processing equipment. May also require the use of a walk-behind electric pallet jack. Labeling: Affix labels to cases per established procedures. Ensure that the correct labels are affixed to the correct products. Labels must be placed in the appropriate places on the boxes and must be neat and straight, not crooked or half peeling off. This also requires removing stretch wrap before labeling and reapplying it after labeling. It may also require restacking cases to get to each box. It is imperative to ensure that every box is labeled properly. Stamping: Stamping requires removing pallet wrap to expose cases, then stamping each case per USDA guidelines using an ink stamp pad and custom USDA Inspection stamp. Care must be taken to ensure every box is stamped. This may require restacking boxes. Pallets must be re-wrapped upon completion and labeled with the appropriate pallet identification. Damaged Product: Ensure that all products are packaged properly and not damaged. If just a small tear in the outer box, clear tape nay be used to seal the box. If any cases are found that are badly torn or have exposed product, notify Supervisor immediately and remove the case from the pallet. Equipment: Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean and orderly fashion. On a daily basis, inspect and verify equipment is operating prior to the start of the day’s activity. Advise your supervisor of any problems encountered. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods. At the end of the day, ensure that equipment is stored it its proper place and plugged in to chargers as appropriate. Safety, Sanitation and Security: Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area and break area, to include warehouse, docks, outside dock, bathroom, battery charging area, aisles and hallways. Assist in maintaining the security and temperature control of the warehouse by ensuring that doors remain closed when not in use and unauthorized personnel are not allowed access. Ensure that all exits and passageways remain accessible and are not blocked with staged product. Conduct operations in a manner which promotes safety and product integrity.
