help remove U lock from bike

Anyone with a grinder or heavy duty lock cutter? Please help! My sister gave me a bike she got for free. And I been riding around town for months now as I'm looking for work. Kind of embarrassing. I don't have tools of my own and new to Reno so don't know anyone. Id like to get this lock off please it's annoying. Also gears jump/skip ALOT. Sounds and feels like it'll fall apart. I've had no problem with it being stolen, the struggle is real. So anyone who knows about bikes and has the tools please contact me. Preferably around sutro and wedekind area. I will go to you.
