New Rochelle Tells Residents Coronavirus Cases Rising In City

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — City of New Rochelle officials are cautioning residents that the new coronavirus virus pandemic is not over. "After several months of steady declines, COVID rates are beginning to rise in New Rochelle and many other parts of our region," an update published on the city's website said. The update stressed that responsible personal behavior "remains vital to our own health and the health of our loves ones." According to numbers released by Westchester County, New Rochelle has 3,334 confirmed cases of the coronavirus to date. There are 57 active cases, meaning infected people who are currently in isolation. Over the past four reporting days, there have been 31 newly reported confirmed cases of the new coronavirus. The following are the number of new cases in New Rochelle: Friday, Sept. 25: 4Monday, Sept. 28: 15Tuesday, Sept. 29: 8Wednesday, Sept. 30: 4"Please continue to wear a mask in public, maintain physical distancing and wash your hands frequently," the city's update said. "And when you meet others, outside is better than inside." City officials also recommended that residents get a flu shot. To obtain a coronavirus test, call the state hotline at 1-888-364-3065. "Throughout this challenging year, the people of New Rochelle have risen to the occasion and looked out for each other," the city said. "Let's keep up our good work and reduce the spread of COVID once again."
