PASSAIC COUNTY SPCA TO HOST OPEN HOUSE AND FOOD DRIVE TO MARK THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF PET FOOD PANTRY Hawthorne, NJ, May 9, 2022 – The Passaic County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Passaic County SPCA) will host an open house and pet food drive to celebrate the third anniversary of its pet food pantry on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at its headquarters located at 794 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne, NJ, 07506. Current members – both adult and junior – will be on hand to lead tours of the pantry, discuss their experience as volunteers and demonstrate how others can host pet food drives for the Passaic County SPCA. “We opened our pantry in May 2019, celebrated our first anniversary at the start of the pandemic, expanded our outreach to include a mobile pet pantry in 2021 and have essentially doubled the number of Passaic County families we serve year over year,” said Andrew Hornback, President, Passaic County SPCA. “All of this has been possible because of our dedicated members and volunteers, our community partners and the generous support from countless Passaic County residents, organizations and businesses.” Please register to attend via Eventbrite at: \ Light snacks and hors d'oeuvres will be provided by Fat Moe’s Grill. For those unable to attend the open house, the Passaic County SPCA always accepts donations of new bags and cans of dog and cat food in the bin on the porch at its headquarters at 794 Lafayette Avenue in Hawthorne. About the Passaic County SPCA Pet Pantry Established in May 2019, the Passaic County SPCA Pet Pantry is currently serving about 70 families and their pets monthly, providing in that time hundreds of bags and thousands of cans of cat and dog food, as well as litter, treats and other pet accessories. Passaic County SPCA relies on the generosity of local residents for donations, as well as the Clifton Animal Shelter, North Jersey Community Animal Shelter and Wayne Animal Shelter who donate their excess pet food and other supplies. The Pet Pantry is currently opened on the first Saturday of each month from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Passaic County SPCA headquarters at 794 Lafayette Avenue in Hawthorne, NJ. Food and treats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Passaic County residents in need come to the pantry when it’s open, fill out a form and provide a valid photo ID and proof of the following: Passaic County residency (in the form of a utility bill) Income (pay stub or tax return or current Families First Card) Spay/neuter of pets (or willingness to do so) In addition, on the third Saturday each month from 10 a.m. – 12 Noon, our mobile pet pantry distributes dog and cat food at the drive-thru Martha’s Pantry at St. Clement’s Church at 271 Lafayette Avenue in Hawthorne.
