With 2019 drawing to a close, peak travel season is almost here as many people in New York head home or elsewhere for the holidays. Few situations are worse than getting stranded at an airport. The people behind Upgraded Points put together a list of the airlines that are most likely to bump you from your flight. Here are the five U.S. airlines most likely to remove you from an overcrowded flight, according to the travel information site. Frontier Airlines: 6.28 bumps per 100,000 passengers Spirit Airlines: 5.57 bumps per 100,000 passengers Alaska Airlines: 2.30 bumps per 100,000 passengers PSA Airlines: 2.29 bumps per 100,000 passengers America Airlines: 1.95 bumps per 100,000 passengers Upgraded Points determined the list by using information from a U.S. Department of Transportation report showing the number of denied boardings (voluntary and involuntary) by U.S. airlines during the first two quarters of 2018 and 2019. "Getting bumped is actually becoming less common," said Alex Miller, the author of the report. "Rates were at an all-time high in the second half of 2016, a trend that carried into the first half of 2017. However, in Q3 of 2017, there was a substantial drop in the rate of involuntary boardings." Delta Airlines finished with the fewest number of bumped passengers, at only 0.02 people per 100,000. Here are the bumped-passenger rates for 14 major U.S. airlines and whether they serve John F.
