NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Police in New Rochelle are investigating two strong-armed robbery incidents that happened within hours of each other Sunday. New Rochelle police said the first happened around 12:45 p.m. at 10 Heminway Ave. A 38-year-old man said he was leaving the residence when he was approached from behind by two men. He said they punched him in the head, causing him to fall down and injure his hip, police said. While he was on the ground, he said they rifled through his pockets and then fled on foot in an unknown direction without taking anything from him. The victim told police that one of the men was heavy set and wore all red. The other was described as thin, wearing a blue and black sweatshirt. The injured man was taken to the hospital, police said. The second incident happened shortly before 4 p.m. at 124 Remington Place. A 56-year-old woman said she was walking on Remington Place when she was accosted by a man who told her to give him everything she had. He then rummaged through her pockets and stole her bank card, police said. She said the man was wearing all black with a black mask and left the area with two other individuals. Police said a witness to the robbery described one of the two other men as wearing red and black clothing.
