Summer mini camps! Tuesdays and Thursdays 6 weeks from July 5th-Aug 11th 10:30am-12pm $300 per student 8 child limit FIRST COME - FIRST SERVE (Space Limited) NATURE STUDY Literature, science and history linked. Find out why nature study is touted as the number one way to open up the right brain. If you have a struggling student, nature study will open up avenues to education! Watch minds open up. Learn why the neo-classical method of education depends on nature study as the backbone of education. Nature study is: Physics, biology, anatomy, astronomy, zoology, Entomology, chemistry, forensics, geology, botany, social science, archeology, paleontology, earth science, meteorology, ecology, anthropology, oceanography. Each 1.5 hour session includes a nature study class and a hands on portion. Activities will be tailored to the interests of the children who sign up but may include things like: -Seashell study (Each child brings home a labeled seashell collection) -Skull and wildlife adaptation class (Hands on study of animal skulls and pelts from Texas wildlife) -Earthworm study (Each child will bring home an earthworm farm) -Butterfly and moth study (Hands on lessons with real bugs) -Egg incubation study (Each child will be able to hold a baby chick, and view incubated eggs at differing stages of development) -Fossil and archaeology study (Hands on study of various fossils types) -Star study (Overhead display of stars to teach constellations. Learn star stories.) -Wildflower identification study (Texas Wildflower game play) -Arthropod/Arachnid identification study (Hands on study of specimens) -Bird study (Learn bird calls and to identify wild birds of Texas by sight and sound) -Reptile/Amphibian study (Compare and contrast these two similar animal types) -Classification of living things (Putting it all together) -Weather types (Each child will make a tornado in a jar to take home) -Biomes (Learn to identify different biome types, the animals that live there and the weather types that happen there) -Geology (Identify different hands on rock and mineral specimens)
