Bassist in search of a covers band for FUN

Description

I am a bass player in search of a band who lives nearby where I live and has a like-minded appreciation of music and an understanding that I want to do this FOR FUN and not for gigging, playing out or money. Looking for vocalist(s), guitarist(s), drummer, maybe even some keyboards. Bonus for having a PA and practice space. Looking to do this maybe once or twice a month for fun. Age range from 18 to 80, male, female whatever, it's all about playing music and having fun. If you are still interested after reading all that, here are a few things about me: - I live in Decatur/Avondale near the Avondale-Marta train station. I really, really do not want to drive more than 20 miles to play. - I have a Squire Jazz Bass powered through a Fender Rumble 25w practice amp. Sorry but unless we can mic-up my amp, I do not have gear to play anything larger than a garage or basement which leads to... - Unfortunately, I DO NOT have a practice space for us, we live in an apartment (sorry :( ). - I am 51 yrs old, not the least bit interested in gigging or playing out (though would not be opposed to it on occasion...just do not want it to be the sole purpose of any band I commit to). I mostly want to play for FUN with other like-minded musicians. - I have been playing bass/guitar for over 37 years. I started on guitar like 90% other bassists out there and switched to bass about 16 years ago and have not looked back. - I am looking at this being a covers only band! I am too old for the whole, "Guys, I wrote a song last night I would love for us to work on..." (***GROAN!!!***). - My influences: From Beethoven to The Beatles, Mozart to Motown, Abba to Zeppelin, 70s, "some 80s" (never got into the whole hair metal rock but not opposed to learning/playing it), 90s grunge...good music is good music regardless of genre in my book. I am not the most knowledgeable bassist in the world but if I am familiar with the song, I am a very quick learner and can pick up on using my own melodic style which leads to the next... - My style of play: My bass playing is very melodic. Think Paul McCartney with a little James Jamerson and Jack Bruce. I am NOT satisfied with just plodding down on the root note rhythm. I love to noodle and experiment with different patterns without being too flashy so as not to overshadow the guitars, singers and drummers. So, if you are looking for a bassist that stands in the shadows going thump-thump-thump on the same note, I'm afraid I am not your guy. - Did I mention I just want to do this for FUN? In case I didn't, I am stating it again. :) At my age, my weekend spare time is a bit more open than it was when my daughter was young and in school. But that being said, I cannot commit to jamming EVERY weekend. A couple of Saturdays and/or Sundays a month is fine with me as long as you are cool with it. - If you are still interested, I can direct you to my file share where I store some cover MP3s of my playing. In my spare time I like to take the original recordings of artists and bands, digitally manipulate the recording to remove (or in most cases, tone down), the original bass in a recording and replace it with my own. If you're serious about this, let me know and I will send you the link so you can determine if my playing would be a good fit for you. So there it is, my pitch. Let me know if you're interested.
