PASCO COUNTY, FL — The Florida Department of Health in Pasco County and BayCare Health System are relocating their coronavirus drive-thru testing site from Gulf High School to the old Sears Auto Center at the Gulfview Square Mall, 9409 U.S. 19 in Port Richey. BayCare has been providing coronavirus testing at the Gulf High School parking lot since the end of March, but the last day for testing at this location will be Friday, July 31. The coronavirus drive-thru testing site will reopen on Monday, Aug. 3, at the south end of the Gulfview Square Mall, formerly occupied by Sears Auto Center. Testing at this site will be available Monday through Friday, 8 to 11 a.m. The DOH in Pasco County is working with other community partners to provide coronavirus testing throughout Pasco County. The department recommends calling the facilities prior to going for testing to ensure they meet any guidelines required by the provider. Maintain social distance, wear a mask and sanitize your home frequently to protect others in your home.Please be patient; labs across the United States are experiencing a high volume of samples, and the time between your test and when you receive your results may take up to 10 days.You will be told what the average wait time for your lab is during your visit. It is possible that it will take longer, depending on the number of samples the lab is currently processing.Please do not go to a different sample site and get tested again while waiting for your results.Getting multiple tests will further tax laboratories and make it take longer for you and others to get their results.Please start thinking about where you have been and who you have seen during the two days before your symptoms started (or in the two days before your test date if you have no symptoms).If you have a positive result, it is important for a public health epidemiologist to contact you. Please be on the alert for a call from the Pasco health department. Answer calls from unknown numbers after you are tested and make sure to check your messages. (Make sure your voicemail is not full.)A caller from the health department will identify him or herself and ask you for identifying information, such as your birthdate. They will never ask for your Social Security number.Your information will be kept confidential. All the information you give the health department is protected by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).During the call: You will speak with someone to determine your isolation end date and how to isolatewithin your home.You will be asked some basic information about you and your health.You will be asked who you have been within 6 feet of for 15 minutes or more duringthe two days before your symptoms started (or test date if you have no symptoms) anduntil you received your results.The epidemiologist will contact these people to let them know their quarantine dates andhow to quarantine within their home. No one will use your name or any identifying information without your express permission.
