Description

This is a one-day training. It will introduce peer recovery coaches to prevention strategies for HIV, STD and Hep C transmission. 6 CEUs will be rewarded upon completion. Performance Domains: 1, 2,3, and 4 Category of Competence: 1,4,5,11, &12 for CRSW certification. Participates will: Discuss and better learn how HIV, AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Hepatitis are transmitted Learn strategies around prevention of HIV, AIDS, STDs and HepatitisLearn about risk factors for individuals and how to identify risk factors as it relates to HIV, AIDS, and HepatitisExplain how stigma and shame and how we interact with individuals impacts prevention strategiesIncrease ability to understand and communicate harm reduction techniques that are available and how to access them to improve prevention strategies of HIV, AIDS, and HepatitisUnderstand how individuals who use drugs, particularly people who inject drugs, are at risk and impacted and gain a better understanding of the challenges in reducing harms for vulnerable individualsExplain the differences between HIV and AIDS as well as Hepatitis testing and treatment options
