Personal Care Assistant needed for two disabled brothers

I am a 33-year-old man with spinal muscular atrophy living in Byram, MS along with my older brother, Blake, 36, who has the same condition. We are looking for a personal care assistant to work the following shifts starting in June and going until October: - Monday 6:30am–6:30pm - Tuesday 6:30am–6:30pm - Wednesday 6:30am–6:30pm No shifts guaranteed after September, but we will place you for other shifts as they arise. About the job - It is an in-home position, not a facility. My brother and I are the only clients. - You would be employed and paid by the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS). - Hourly rate is $11. There are opportunities to make extra, which I pay out-of-pocket. - We provide free coffee and wifi. Responsibilities of the position The following is a summary of the main things we need help with. - Bathing and dressing - Help with meals and feeding - Light housework, mainly our laundry and keeping our areas clean - Repositioning/pressure relief - Personal hygiene Other benefits of this position - Friendly, low-pressure work environment - It’s just us, you won’t be going to a different house every day - There are opportunities to work extra which in some cases we compensate with cash - Reliable schedule About you - Must be patient and able to follow instructions - Must be dependable (on time, etc) - Must be generally positive, respectful, and non-judgmental - It would be great if you have flexibility to fill in for others on occasion About us - Blake and I are website developers and work from home. - We use power wheelchairs to get around. - We have equipment for transferring in and out of our chairs that’s easy to use. - We have spinal muscular atrophy type 2. This means our muscles are extremely weak. We need help to do most things, which is why we are hiring. - We live at home with our mother. You would be giving her a much-needed break.
