NEW HYDE PARK, NY - A popular pet store in New Hyde Park will be closing its doors for good soon. According to a store employee, Pet Valu, which is located at 1596 Union Tpke., is expected to permanently shut down no later than Feb. 22. The reason behind the closing isn't clear, however, some customers said they were sad to learn the news. "That is so sad. It is a great store filled with wonderful people who work there," one person said on social media. "I hope another location is found close by." "So sad. The one on Old Country Road in Westbury closed, too. Used to bathe our dog there," another person posted online. Pet Valu is a specialty retailer of premium pet food, treats, toys and accessories.
