FLORAL PARK, NY — Sewanhaka High School has a new interim principal. The Sewanhaka Central High School District Board of Education appointed Nichole Allen as the interim principal, effective July 1. Allen has served as the assistant principal of the school since 2007 and has made a positive impact in improving student achievement, the district said. She co-created the Girls: Ready, Able, and Determined Mentoring Program, and represented the school at Apple Inc. and was a Dignity for All Students Act coordinator. Allen is also a member of the district's Wellness Committee, AIS Committee, Excellence and Equity Committee, Articulation Committee and Eligibility Committee. Prior to her time at the high school, Allen served as an assistant principal at Uniondale High School and as the chairperson of the Social Studies Department at Westbury High School. She received her Master of Arts in School Administration from Long Island University and her Master of Arts in Secondary Education from Hofstra University. "I am proud to call Sewanhaka my home for the past 12 years," Allen said. "I look forward to working with the Sewanhaka family in this new and exciting role."
