PASCO COUNTY, FL — For the fifth year, good souls in Pasco County came together to donate hundreds of shoes and socks to the Two Good Soles drive.
The program is organized by Pasco County Government and constitutional offices including the Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller, Property Appraiser and Tax Collector offices to benefit children in need in the community by providing them with new shoes and socks.
"This year's Two Good Soles comes at a critical time for many families," said Pasco Community Services Director Brian Hoben. "We're seeing increased need across the board in all of our programs, and we know first-hand that children are directly affected by these hardships. Your generosity can change a child's life."
This year, Pasco County Fire Rescue and the Firefighters Charities of Pasco teamed up for the Two Good Soles drive. Firefighters Charities of Pasco is a nonprofit organization comprised of professional firefighters in Pasco County looking to build relationships and positively influence the community on a regular basis.
"Pasco County Fire Rescue would like to thank everyone involved in the program, as well as express our gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of this," said Pasco County Fire Chief Scott Cassin.
Last year the drive resulted in 3,057 pairs of shoes and 13,285 pairs of socks donated. Since 2016, the Two Good Soles drive has collected 7,568 pairs of shoes and 24,737 pairs of socks. Social workers distribute the shoes and socks to Pasco County students at the end of October.
