WHAT? Looking for other passionate musicians for a start-up project celebrating the great artists who played the Fillmore East & West (1968 to 1971). This is a tribute to the bands who played and made these iconic venues famous and set the stage for what was to become, arguably, the greatest period of rock and roll history. "Old Guys -- and gals -- Rule!" Musical experience & quality over age. If you grew up playing this great music and/or are passionate about this music as we are, here's your gig! The idea here is to keep the show fan friendly, so some artists won't be covered for the purposes of logistics and style (for instance, the Buddy Rich Big Band due to it's big horn band; Sun Ra, hey, they were great, but playing outside/avant garde music may not pack trhe house. We also stick to the material written & performed by these artists during the iconic Fillmore era, (1968 to 1971). Blind Faith was an important band who performed during the time (1969) and although they did tour extensively, they not perform either of the Fillmore venues. We cannot pass up on performing the music of Blind Faith, therefore we will use artistic license and will perform some of their choice material. The same goes for Cream, cannot pass them by either. WHAT DO WE NEED? -LEAD GUITAR/VOCALIST -RHYTHM/ACOUSTIC GUITARIST/VOCALIST -KEYBOARDS (PRIMARILY a modern keyboard with RHODES PIANO/PIANO, B3 sound) -BASS PLAYER/VOCALIST Please, seasoned, professional musicians only. With most seasoned, professional players already working in one or more bands, there won't be a lot of time to rehearse, not to mention the price of gas getting to and from rehearsals. Therefore, it's absolutely imperative that we work with the best players who are familiar with, and can play most of this material now/and or learn on their own. Players who have, or currently play professionally, are the folks we want. Probably one rehearsal, which will look more like a performance, is all we need. We are looking for nice people, who are easy to get along with. Right wing politics, hateful or judgmental people will never be brought into this project. All ages, genders and races are encouraged to respond. Currently, there is one paid show each month already lined up and waiting. How many more shows we play will be determined by the band's availability and appetite. This will always be an ongoing discussion. The tribute market right is red hot right now. This is a great opportunity for the right players. We will assume most of the promotional/booking and drudgery. Let's have some fun, entertain the folks with a new twist on the tribute thing and make some cash. This is a wonderful opportunity for older, experienced, professional players right now, before the clock runs out..
