CLARKSTOWN, NY — A Danbury man stopped by police on the New York State Thruway Sunday faces a drunken-driving charge and more.
New York State police said they stopped a car on I-87 in Clarkstown at 11:30 a.m. for several vehicle and traffic violations. They concluded the driver of the vehicle, Javier Gonzales, 56, was intoxicated.
He was taken into custody, transported and processed at the state police barracks in Tarrytown where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.22 percent, police alleged.
Gonzales was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor, and several Vehicle and Traffic Violations.
He was turned over to a sober third party and released. He is due in the Town of Clarkstown Court Sept. 23.
