ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — A grand jury added 78 charges to the five that a Rockland County corrections officer already faces in an ongoing investigation of the Rockland County Jail. John Kezek, 35, is accused of sexually harassing minority female inmates. He and another corrections officer, Christopher Taggert, were arraigned in August on multiple charges. Taggert was also accused of sexually harassing inmates. Kezek's new charges are related to making false entries in jail records regarding his daily activity, Rockland District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II said Thursday. On Wednesday, a grand jury indicted the Florida, New York, resident on 26 counts of tampering with public records, 26 counts of falsifying business records and and 26 counts of official misconduct. "The grand jury heard additional evidence from the ongoing investigation being conducted by my office into criminal activity taking place within the Rockland County jail," Walsh said. "My team is ensuring that those public servants, charged with protecting our citizens, are held accountable for their actions. The overwhelming majority of our corrections officers are doing great work and are extremely professional. We can never lose sight of that fact."
