RAMAPO, NY — After a 14-year-old boy died in a ritual bath at a Wesley Hills home, village officials issued a violation to the homeowner, The Journal News reported.
Mordechai Paneth, who lived nearby in New Hempstead, was found in a mikvah at 6 Baldwin Court last week, according to TJN. The owner of the house told reporter Jon Bandler that a tenant had built it for personal use then offered it to others.
A public mikvah needs a special permit and a private one requires a regular building permit, the paper reported. Mayor Marshal Katz told TJN the bath was added without a permit.
