World AIDS Day was first recognized in 1988 and is dedicated to spreading awareness of the AIDS epidemic and grieving those who have died from the condition. Even as research advancements and treatment improvements thrive, AIDS, unfortunately, continues to claim nearly 2 million lives annually, of which nearly 250,000 are adolescents.
