MIAMI, FL — Online retail giant Amazon said this week it will hire an additional 100,000 people throughout the U.S. and Canada, including many who will qualify for a $1,000 signing bonus. Patch found 14 jobs in Florida as of Tuesday night that appeared to qualify for the sign-on bonus. The jobs were spread throughout various Florida cities, including Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville, Clearwater, Auburndale, Venice, West Palm Beach and Pompano Beach. "We are opening 100 buildings this month alone across new fulfillment and sortation centers, delivery stations, and other sites," explained Dave Clark, senior vice president of worldwide operations at Amazon. The 100,000 jobs pay $15 per hour and benefits, including the $1,000 sign-on bonus in some cities, and access to company training programs that offer a springboard into careers at Amazon and elsewhere. Many of the new jobs stem from the opening of 100 new operations buildings across fulfillment centers, delivery stations, sortation centers and other sites. "Amazon continues to provide opportunities for regular full-time and part-time jobs in its fulfillment and logistics network as it expands its footprint to better serve customers in communities where they live," the company said. The company said that last week that it was also planning to fill 33,000 corporate and technology positions. "On top of Amazon's minimum $15 wage, the company offers full-time employees industry-leading benefits, which include health, vision and dental insurance from day one, 401(k) with 50 percent company match, up to 20 weeks paid parental leave and Amazon's innovative Career Choice program, which prepays 95 percent of tuition for courses in high-demand fields," the retailer said.
