Description

The Sur La Table bankruptcy filing will mean the closing of the chain's stores in Nanuet and Yonkers. The Seattle-based upscale kitchenware company sought bankruptcy protection on Wednesday, and that means 50 of the chain's 125 stores will close. According to the company website, the company plans to close its locations in the Shops at Nanuet and Ridge Hill in August or September. The store at the Westchester in White Plains is already closed. This is just the latest in a series of closings at The Shops At Nanuet, which opened with fanfare in 2013. Its big anchor stores, Sears and Macy's, closed in 2019. As of July 4, 121 Sur La Table stores across the country have safely reopened, in accordance with CDC,federal, state and local guidelines, company officials said. Sur La Table, which opened almost 50 years ago at Seattle's Pike Place Market, will be restructured to "have a balance sheet and retail footprint optimized to position the Company for a bright future," CEO Jason Goldberger said in a news release this week.
