Join us for an interactive panel discussion on sustainable design! You incorporate water efficient fixtures, specify LED lighting and other environmentally preferable products, and yet you still wonder if you’re doing enough in the area of sustainability. Join us for an interactive panel discussion on sustainable design with Katie Storey, Good Future Design Alliance; David Berens, ReFind Kitchens; and Carolyn Rebuffel Flannery, Make it Home; moderated by Nureed Saeed, Nu Interiors. Topics include: Reimagining demo, Sourcing reusable materials, Partnering with organizations and businesses that channel reusable products for future use, and more. This evening is a wonderful opportunity to learn, network and visit with friends and colleagues. Panel Moderator: Nureed Saeed Owner, Nu Interiors; President, NKBA Northern California Nu Interiors is a full service interior design and remodeling project management resource, specializing in kitchen and bathroom renovations. Nu Interiors' owner, Nureed Saeed envisions spaces that meet her three key design tenets: Form, Function and Comfort. She believes each space should feel inviting and yet functional for the needs of one’s life. Through her work, Nureed has become a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion in the design industry, and for educating her community and industry on the role of residential segregation on today’s ongoing inequalities in housing, the workplace and schooling. She serves as a steering committee member of the National Committee to Redress Residential Segregation, as well as president of the Northern California Chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association. Panelists: Katie Storey Founder, Good Future Design Alliance Katie Storey is the founder of the Good Future Design Alliance, an alliance of design and build professionals on a mission to reduce their waste by 50% in the next five years. She is also the principal designer of Storey Design, a full-service interiors firm based in San Francisco. Katie has a deep commitment to sustainability, and spent years working on Wall Street for a sustainable investment firm. A designer known for her sense of color, texture, ease and comfort, her work has been recognized by California Home & Design, Lonny magazine, Wallpaper, Vogue UK, Domino, World of Interiors and Luxe Interiors + Design magazine. Carolyn Rebuffel Flannery Founder, Make it Home Bay Area Make It Home’s mission is to furnish homes of families and individuals transitioning out of crisis or homelessness with donated, gently used, repurposed furnishings and household goods. Located in a warehouse in San Rafael, Make it Home partners with local agencies who identify specific clients in need. Using quality donated furniture and household goods, a dynamic team of designers and volunteers put together welcoming home environments that are then delivered to those in need at their new home. Make it Home serves Marin, San Francisco, Alameda, Sonoma, Napa, Solano and Contra Costa counties in the Bay Area. Our vision is to end furniture poverty and bring hope to families while being self-sustaining, creating jobs and protecting the environment. David Berens Founder, ReFind Kitchens David Berens is the founder and CEO of ReFind Kitchens and a 2020 NKBA 30 Under 30. ReFind Kitchens is a zero-waste kitchen and bath showroom specializing in full-cycle building material reuse. The company was founded to answer the question, “How do we design for people, planets and pocketbooks?” Trained in economics and committed to environmental stewardship, David developed the ReFind model to align incentives as a force for good.
