Memorial Day Flag Planting Event and Ceremony
Please join the University of Phoenix Office of Military and Veteran Affairs for our 13th Annual Memorial Day Flag Tribute on Tuesday, May 24, 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m., AZ Time at our Riverpoint campus in Phoenix (4035 S Riverpoint Pkwy).
Each year, we honor fallen service members by planting over 10,000 flags to reveal a compelling message. Flags are then donated to AZ Heroes to Hometowns to be placed on Veterans’ gravestones.
We would like to invite you to join our group of volunteers, made up of community members and fellow Phoenixes, to assist in planting our American Flags to spell out this year’s theme: “Because of the Brave.”
Following the flag planting is a ceremony where guest speakers will touch on their Memorial Day experience and will include a live performance of the National Anthem along with the Arizona National Guard Color Guard’s presentation of the colors.
This year, our University will also be honoring our Nation’s “Gold Star Families,” by wearing gold colors to the event and including the West Phoenix Chapter of American Gold Star Moms to share their stories.
See you there!”
