SPRING VALLEY, NY — The sons of slain Finkelstein Memorial Library security guard Sandra Wilson have filed a lawsuit in federal court alleging her employer did not do enough to protect her against numerous advances from the man charged in her death, The Journal News of the Lower Hudson Valley reports. The lawsuit targets the library, East Ramapo Central School District and Blanchard Glaudin, the man accused in her death. Wilson was stabbed at the Rinkelstein Memorial Library in February. Glaudin, 26, now faces a second-degree murder charge. In February, Patch reported Wilson was working on the library's third floor, near the computer terminals, when she was stabbed. Police said at the time that Glaudin stabbed Wilson after she told him to turn his music down. Nearby library patrons jumped on the man whom police said had a knife in his hand. Wilson was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where she died from her injuries. "I want to commend the brave citizens, who reacted without fear for their safety, by subduing the suspect," Rockland District Attorney Thomas Walsh said after the incident. "We will ensure that justice is served in this horrible crime." Police said the attack was believed to be "random," but the lawsuit claims Glaudin had asked Wilson on dates several times before the attack. According to the LoHud report, school district and library officials knew about the advances but took no action to protect Wilson from "stalking, harassment, aggravation, menacing, endangerment, intimidation and threats." Glaudin was arrested by Orangetown police in November 2019 and charged with attempted rape. He was jailed in Rockland County on $100,000 bail but later released. Glaudin has pleaded not guilty in Wilson's death and is set to undergo a mental health evaluation to determine if he is able to assist in his own defense.
