His hard work, persistence, and love for the game prove that despite falling short of the NBA, there is still room for hoop dreamers on the moon.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The documentary film Dream Chaser is Carl Montgomery’s story. He's a Black boy born in the Chi who escapes the world that consumed far too many of his friends and unrelentingly chases his dreams. Carl is the triumphant underdog who prevails against all odds. Armed with hope, a basketball, an undying love for the game and guided by hard work, perseverance, and maybe even a little luck—Carl Montgomery finds the way to his American dream. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Dream Chaser features the following interviewees: -ESPN Senior Reporter Nick Friedell, who covered the rise of the youngest MVP in NBA history - Derrick Rose. Rose’s story is one of the underlying themes of the film as it relates to Chicago’s kids from adverse neighborhoods overcoming obstacles. -Father Michael Pfleger, Senior Pastor of St. Sabina Church and a pillar in the Chatham neighborhood. Pfleger has championed for reconciliation pertaining to crime and gun violence in the city. Additionally, he’s been out in front of race relations and discrimination against people of color. Pfleger expressed his thoughts on how Chicago became segregated and the lack of resources on the South and West side of the city. -Former Chicago Sun-Times writer and CPS Press Secretary Evan F. Moore. He has written for various outlets including his award-nominated story on Colin Kapernick for Rolling Stone. Moore has been at the forefront in covering Chicago’s gun violence. -Social Activist and former Mayoral Candidate Ja’Mal Green gives his analysis on systemic racial discrimination in Chicago.
