Qigong is mindbody exercise that uses breath work, visualization, special movements and massage to alleviate stress & restore balance. Qigong offers over 3,000 different systems to benefit mindbody in a myriad of ways. This Saturday session in the park places emphasis on breath work and gentle movements that improve balance and mindbody awareness. Each class is different, offering something unique with every session. Qigong has been called the World’s #1 Longevity Practice because it keeps the respiratory system strong while toning the body‘s core muscles AND reducing stress on bones, muscles and your precious heart! Standing still we create more blood micro-circulation to organs and brain than running. Qigong offers the stretching benefits of yoga + the focus of meditation + the aerobic health of cardio workouts. Beginner friendly class that are not hard exercises but smart exercises that has been proven to: Improve core strength, reduce cellular oxidation, alleviate stress and the production of stress hormones, boost immunity, heal respiratory ailments, quiet anxiety and depression. Qigong is used throughout the world by athletes, veterans, seniors and those seeking safe, effecient, evidence-based exercises that creates MORE energy instead of leaving one tired. We meet rain or shine OUTSIDE on the north side of the lake near the gazebo and picnic tables close to the stoplight on S. Patrick Drive. If it rains, we go inside the gazebo or one of the other nearby shelters. Rarely has it actually rained during our classes over the past 8 years. Dress weather appropriate and if the weather doesn’t suit you, then sit that class out and come to the next one :). $10/class pay here or pay cash or Venmo at class. Sessions include warm ups, moving qigong exercises, breath work exercises and cool downs. Each session is different and led by certified instructor Lea Williamson who has been practicing daily breath work over 15 years and qigong over 2 decades.
