Caregivers will share their background and self -care tips through an interactive panel dicussion Caregiving affects us all. Whether we are taking care of others or ourselves, there is no better time to learn better self-care tips. This panel will share the stories of caregivers in different capacities. An interactive panel of family caregivers will discuss the challenges and rewards of caregiving, what they have learned, and what they would advise others. Moderated by Kelly Darke, Art Therapist for the Henry Ford Health C.A.R.E. Program, she will be joined by Dan John Miller, Rabbi Daniel Syme,Venus Mason-Thues, and Ashley Crain. Q&A will follow the panel discussion. This event is part of a series called Looking for the Light: an art exhibition and event series dedicated to the destigmatization of mental illness. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month (May) the event’s mission is to confront the issue of mental illness in a celebratory, informational, and inspiring way – eschewing stigmatization and promoting help options. The event will be a three-week offering of art, counsel, education and celebrates the creative passion of artists who have faced mental health challenges. Looking for the Light is sponsored by El Studio 444, Lafayette American, Midtown Inc. and Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation.
