Barbie Fans In NoVA Show Up In Rain To Buy Collectibles, Take Photos

ARLINGTON, VA — Steady rain did not deter Barbie fans from showing up in Arlington on Saturday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Malibu Barbie and purchase Barbie-themed clothing and accessories. The local stop was part of the "2022 Barbie Truck Totally Throwback Malibu Tour," which was stocked full of "exclusive retro-inspired merchandise" to celebrate the anniversary of everyone's favorite California girl. Barbie fans of all ages, including parents and their children, visited the truck to check out the selection of Barbie collectibles. The Barbie Truck, parked in the courtyard at Pentagon Row from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, was selling a wide array of items as part of its tour across the country. Barbie-themed denim jackets, hoodies, tee shirts, necklaces, patch sets, keychains, beach towels, thermal bottles and ceramic mugs were among the items for sale. The sales associates inside the Malibu Barbie Truck said the rain didn't stop fans from showing up to purchase merchandise and take pictures. Winners of Patch's subscriber contest also showed up at the truck to pick up their prizes: Barbie tee shirt for first place, Barbie bucket hat for second place, and a set of Barbie patches for third place. The Barbie Truck Totally Throwback Tour kicked off in Los Angeles in fall 2019. After its Arlington stop, the Barbie Truck Malibu Tour will head to Columbia, Maryland, on Saturday, May 14 and Philadelphia on Saturday, May 21.
