Oswego SkillsUSA Students Win 4 Medals At Illinois Championship

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego High School students who participate in SkillsUSA brought home four medals from the recent Illinois championship, officials announced. Under the guidance of Kevin Pattermann and Tom Dwyer, students brought home two gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal. Daniel Overstreet and Conor Auton, who won gold, will advance to compete in the SkillsUSA National Competition on June 23 in Atlanta. Through the SkillsUSA Illinois Championships, career and technical education students who excel in their occupational areas are recognized and spotlighted for their leadership development activities, according to a news release from Community Unit School District 308. More than 2,000 students came together to compete in 100 different trade, technical and leadership fields during the championships. The following are the results from the recent competition: First Place - Gold Medalist (Qualified for national competition) Daniel Overstreet — Cabinetmaking Conor Auton — Restaurant Service Second Place - Silver Medal Omarion Vivrette — Cabinetmaking Third Place - Bronze Medal Jeremiah Rogers — Culinary Arts Other participants: Alex Gubricky — Commercial Baking (4th Place) Jimmy Fitzgerald — Cabinetmaking (5th Place) Ben Forsell — Cabinetmaking (6th Place) Jack McGreevy — Cabinetmaking (7th Place) Chris Cosmas — Cabinet Making (12th Place) Will Prevendar — Cabinet Making (13th Place)
