Video: K-9 Buzz To The Rescue, Busy Busting Up Burglary Spree

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — Four juveniles accused taking part in an auto burglary spree in Wesley Chapel were taken into custody by Pasco County sheriff's deputies with the help of K-9 Buzz. Early Tuesday morning, deputies responded to a report of four teens committing auto burglaries in Wesley Chapel. When the teens spotted the deputies, they fled in a vehicle, at times driving at 100 mph, deputies said. The vehicle was disabled when deputies placed stop sticks in its path, blowing out the tires. The teens ran away but were quickly caught by K-9 Buzz and his partner, Sgt. Benjamin Birge. The teens, age 14 to 17, were charged with felony auto burglary and fleeing to elude. The chase and capture were caught on video by the sheriff's aviation unit. "We share this footage to highlight the teamwork of several elements of our agency, and to remind citizens to lock their doors and secure valuable as we continue to address an increasing trend of juvenile auto burglaries in our area," said Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco, referring to the sheriff's office's Twitter campaign, the #9PMRoutine. "The #9PMRoutine is a nightly reminder to secure your valuables and lock your car doors to prevent these crimes of opportunity." The Pasco County Sheriff's Office started the #9PMRoutine social media campaign in 2017, and it has since spread throughout the country with law enforcement agencies as far away as Alaska using the hashtag #9PMRoutine on their social media pages as a reminder for residents to lock up for the night.
