Here are the top three stories today in Lakewood: Although Ohio COVID-19 cases are on the rise, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not recommend masking for the state. More than 11,000 cases were reported this week, a significant increase of just over 3,100 as of Apr. 1. Erik Balster, Butler County Health Commissioner, said that if cases continue to go up it is possible that all 88 counties will move into the high transmission tiers. (Spectrum New 1)Lakewood's Immigrant Son Brewery took home an award for its craft beer at the World Beer Cup awards ceremony in Minneapolis on Thursday. This was the first time the local brewery won at the competition also known as "The Olympics of Beer Competitions." The brewery won the Common Ale - Silver award, English Mild or Bitter. (News 5 Cleveland WEWS)The NAMM Foundation named Lakewood City Schools with the Best Communities for Music Education distinction for its outstanding commitment to music education. This award is given to communities that show outstanding efforts to provide music access and education to all students. Funding, music class participation, instruction time, programs, and facilities are a few of the categories evaluated for the honor.
