Who's got the DIY spirit and wants to make music?

Description

Who wants to make some music with me, à la DIY? I'm sort of starting out, so I'm not all that great at writing music, but I'd love to experiment with some local people! I play mostly weird folkish instruments, including the accordion, the cello, and a homemade two-string guitar I lovingly named trashtar (pictured above). In fact, if you're into making your own experimental instruments, that's all the better, it'd go along with the DIY spirit of this experiment! Also central to playing DIY is the fact that I don't have a space to play, or the funds to rent one, so we'd have to rehearse guerilla style. Again, this is mostly for fun and to get creative, so I'm open to finding any unconventional place to play. We could even play in the middle of a field if we wanted! As for my influences, I've been learning about punk more recently, and so far my favorite punk band is probably Streetlight Manifesto. Particularly Toh Kay's acoustic songs, which do a good job breaking down more complex songs onto simpler instruments. I'm also a huge fan of old school swing and jazz, especially the more gypsy-jazz like sounds that bands like Squirrel Nut Zippers were influenced by. Again, I'm open to experimenting, but that's sort of my overall style. Anything jazzy and with some spunk and style! Oh, and 3 big points to note if you're interested in playing with me: 1) I'm located in Downingtown. I'd really prefer to stick with people nearby, definitely no more than 30 minutes away. Driving's expensive, collabing online can be tricky for me, so local works better. 2) I'm 20. I'd like to play with people close-ish to my age, 18-25 3) If I get multiple messages, I would totally consider getting a small group together, so be prepared for that possibility Shoot me an email or a text!
