Description

Press release from The City of Largo: June 15, 2020 Largo, FL – The Largo City Commission celebrated Pride Month with a proclamation at their June 2, 2020, meeting. The proclamation was followed by a small group of City team members safely gathering to raise the Pride flag on June 3, 2020. The month of June is designated in many communities across the United States as Pride Month, to both acknowledge the history of prejudice and discrimination toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and non-binary individuals, and as an opportunity to celebrate the advancements of the LGBTQ+ rights movement. The City of Largo supports a community in which all residents are treated with dignity and respect. Throughout the world, events and education campaigns are planned during this month to celebrate and raise awareness for this community. The City of Largo will comply with National and state protocol for flag display and etiquette. The City Hall Municipal Complex displays the United States flag, State of Florida flag, and a contemporary flag representing the Largo brand. The Pride flag will be displayed on a temporary basis at the City Hall Municipal Complex in place of the Largo community flag. More information about the proclamation can be found at Largo.com/Agendas and video of the Commission Meeting proclamation can be viewed online at Largo.com/LiveTV.
