WILMINGTON, MA — Coca-Cola is planning to cut 23 workers in its Odwalla division in Wilmington, the company said in a state filing. The lay-offs are set to be effective Aug. 31.
The company is closing its entire facility at 10 Jewel Drive. The 23 workers who will be laid off work largely in sales and delivery.
Coca-Cola is shutting down the Odwalla juice brand at the end of July, it said earlier in July. Coca-Cola bought Odwalla and 2001 and has been "assessing" the businesses for several years, a spokesperson told CNN.
The decision was not directly due to the coronavirus pandemic, the spokesperson told CNN.
The Wilmington layoffs were reported to the state as required under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act.
