Life is full and frenetic for a professional. While much is offered regarding life balance – and we all believe we need it – what is it we are truly striving for as human beings rather than human doings? Creating a professional life while maintaining oneself as a “whole” person can be challenging. This mentor session will facilitate a discussion on personal tools to achieve thriving through transitions (career and in life). These discussion topics may include creativity, communication, conflict management, leadership, finding your dream job, discovering your “place” or other soft skills by your request. Please Note: Lunch will be provided by OKWIT.You must be an OKWIT Advocate Member or OKWIT Contributing Member to register. Mooney: Graduated with bachelor’s degrees in computer science and applied theoretical physics at the University of Central Oklahoma. He received highest honors in the computer science department and selected to the alpha-chi national honors society. After graduating, in 1986, he began his career in Information Technology as a systems engineer/scientist at Oklahoma Gas & Electric Company where over time introduced several advanced technologies that became firsts while altering the technology future of the energy industry. He joined MidFirst Bank in 1996 as a Network Manager where over the next several years, led the bank from 75.3 million to 10.4 billion in assets through creative technology innovations that changed what turned out to be the future of banking. His credit union experience began in 2004 when he joined Tinker Federal CU as an Assistant Vice President/Manager of Information Services. During the next fifteen years, he introduced advanced technologies that altered the credit union industry. He led them from a 1 billion to 4.8 billion in assets during his tenure. These technological advancements led to him receiving multiple regional and national awards throughout the financial industry. He is currently the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Security Officer for Truity Credit Union. Truity Credit Union is a 1.2 billion in assets institution headquartered in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where they currently serve the Bartlesville, OK, Lawrence, KS, and Houston, TX markets, with seven branches and approximately 71K members. He is currently chartered with introducing creative and innovative technologies while utilizing his leadership abilities to position the credit union as a leader in advanced technologies as has been demonstrated with MidFirst Bank and Tinker Federal CU. He is a technology leader and advisor for Jack Henry & Associates (Symitar Engineering), IBM Almaden Laboratories Materials Sciences, IBM Power Systems, and McAfee/Intel Corporation along with several banks and credit unions across the country. He has also been a speaker at public events for Jack Henry & Associates/Symitar, IBM, EMC, Palo Alto, and Cisco.
