WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington selectmen recently decided not to waive or reduce restaurant licensing fees for the coming year, but they may do so next year. The board voted at their Nov. 23 meeting to assign the issue to the Economic Development Committee to consider for next year. The board had considered making a change this year, to ease the burden of local businesses affected by the coronavirus, but by the time they met to discuss it, the payment deadline was just a week away. "My expectation would be that many of those would be already received at this point," Chairman Jonathan Eaton said. Town Manager Jeffrey Hull told the board that the town took in about $20,000 from restaurant-associated licensing fees for the current year: nine alcohol licenses and 42 common victualer licenses.
