Informal Conversation Series exploring various social and political topics through the lens of Hannah Arendt.
Join us for our second conversation, this time with Philosophy Professor Vanessa Voss. Through the lens of Hannah Arendt, we will ask ourselves: “what is the nature of true friendship?” and “What are the challenges of friendship under modernism and liberalism?”
About the series:
In the last few years, many have turned to the work of political theorist Hannah Arendt to try to understand our world today. In our conversation series, we’re inviting the public to think alongside Hannah Arendt in an informal and casual setting to explore questions of solitude, peace, privacy, freedom, love and politics.
The conversation series accompanies the podcast Between Worlds, where each conversation follows the topic of each podcast episode and brings it home to Houston.
Each conversation will begin with a short presentation by a speaker who will open the discussion to the audience to engage and grapple with the evening’s topic.
Our goal is to engage with big questions in an informal and non-academic way. All are welcome. Curious minds encouraged.
