How Local Women Changed History Join us onsite at the Watkins for a special presentation by local historian Kathryn Nemeth Tuttle in connection with our exhibit Mothers of Invention: The Entrepreneurs and Innovators of Lawrence. The 1890s was a transformative decade for Lawrence and women played a crucial role, from Populism, to the Suffrage Movement, to education and libraries, to the Rational Dress Movement and the bicycle craze.
