Hands-on Dairy Worker needed for Organic dairy operation located in Northern California (60 miles north of San Francisco in the beautiful Point Reyes National Seashore area of Marin County). This is a wonderful opportunity to join a family company with a long tradition of dairy farming and the first certified organic dairy west of the Mississippi River. Currently there are 270 milking cows and 230 young stock with 500 total acres. Terrific benefits offered inclusive of a house on the property and medical benefits.  Benefits: Housing  Fully sponsored medical and dental benefits Vacation pay Holiday Pay Sick pay  Qualifications:: A good attitude with a willingness to learn. No previous dairy experience required, but would be helpful.  Basic English language ability, preferred but not required. Bilingual candidates a plus. Basic knowledge of computers is helpful Experienced driver - operating tractors and trucks a plus Ability to lift up to 80 pounds, without assistance Be in good physical shape and able to perform physically demanding work  Capable of climbing stairs, scaffolding and other high places Responsibilities include:: Set up milking equipment and prepare dairy cows for milking Milk cows efficiently and in a timely manner Bring in cows for milking and putting cows to pasture when finished milking Ensure herding of cows is always done in a calm/caring and humane manner Ensure milk quality, record keeping using Milk Watch program Ensure proper sanitation of milking parlor equipment Ensure wash down, scraping of milking parlor after milking Ensure health care of the cows is monitored closely, bringing any issues to farm manager's attention Assist with daily feeding of the cows and selecting feed rations Clean corrals and maintaining bedding in the barns; scraping down barns Assist with keeping farm clean and in good repair helping with general maintenance Fix and build fences, as needed to maximize cow and farm safety Assist with silage planting and harvesting Other job-related duties and special projects as required
