Description
WILMINGTON, MA — Roughly one-sixth of Wilmington families selected remote learning rather than in the district's in-person and hybrid models, Superintendent Glenn Brand told the school committee in a presentation, Wednesday.
According to the presentation, 500 respondents selected remote learning, of 3,000 total respondents. Based on middle and high school enrollment figures provided as part of the presentation, almost all families responded to the learning model survey.
Thirty-seven respondents said they plan to home school their children.
Both remote learning and home schooling were most popular with middle school families — nearly one in four sixth-graders will be remote, with 50 opt-outs out of 205 respondents, and 15 home-schoolers across the three grades.
The high school class saw the fewest opt-outs, with 9th and 11th grade classes having fewer than 10 percent of families opting for remote learning.
