Wilmington School Committee, Teachers Union Agree On Reopening

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington's School Committee and Teachers' Association reached agreement on the district's reopening plan, they announced Tuesday, more than a month after the school year began. "The parties have worked diligently to address the working conditions that are impacted by teaching in either the hybrid or remote learning model," they said. That includes: "ensuring that all buildings are safe for students and staffensuring that all buildings are thoroughly cleaned and ventilatedensuring that any aspects of the existing unit agreements impacted by the District's re-opening plan have been addressed or clarified"The district began the school year remotely then transitioned to a hybrid model. The high school temporarily reverted back to remote learning after an indoor house party. "Throughout the process, the parties have been focused on providing the best possible education to the students of Wilmington in what will undoubtedly be a unique school year, while also taking steps to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff," the committee and union said.
