3 Firefighters Hurt Battling Fire At Mineola Restaurant

MINEOLA, NY — Three firefighters were hurt battling an inferno at a Mineola restaurant Thursday. The blaze broke out around 12:40 p.m. Thursday, Nassau County police said. Police rushed to the blaze on Jericho Turnpike and found heavy flames coming from Piccola Bussola and an above apartment. Multiple fire departments helped battle the blaze for two hours. Three firefighters who were injured were treated at the scene. The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Police closed off nearby sections of Jericho Turnpike and Willis Avenue while firefighters worked. Video at the scene showed firefighters pouring water on the blaze from multiple ladder trucks. The cause and exact origin of the blaze weren't immediately clear. Owner Tony Lubrano was not in the building at the time.
