Wilmington Voter Turnout Already Two-Thirds Of 2016 Election

WILMINGTON, MA — Over 9,000 Wilmington voters have cast ballots in the Nov. 3 general election, as of Wednesday afternoon, Town Clerk Christine Touma-Conway said. That's 53 percent turnout, Touma-Conway said. The 9,430 ballots cast are more than two-thirds of the 2016 presidential election total of 13,595, with six days to go. In the September state primary election, roughly 6,500 votes were cast in Wilmington. The early votes have been fairly evenly split between in-person and mail votes: 4,475 were by mail, 4955 in person. There are 1772 mail ballots that the office has sent out and not yet received back. >>Election 2020: When, Where And How To Vote In Wilmington Massachusetts expanded both early in-person voting and mail voting because of the coronavirus pandemic. Early in-person voting was available for two weeks, ending Friday, and mail voting was made available to all voters, with no excuse needed. In addition to the presidential election, Wilmington voters are casting their ballots in state and federal legislative races and two statewide ballot measures.
