WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington police are charging a Methuen man in connection to a Sept. 18 bank robbery, Chief Joseph Desmond said Thursday.
Caio Costa, 25, of Methuen, is being charged with armed robbery and two counts of armed assault with the intent to rob, Desmond said.
According to the police narrative, the Reading Cooperative Bank at 230 Lowell Street was robbed shortly before 2:50 p.m. on Sept. 18.
The suspect was wearing a motorcycle helmet and dark clothing and brandished a gun at a bank teller, demanding money. The suspect left on a dark motorcycle.
Nobody was injured.
Wilmington police investigated the robbery with the FBI, Massachusetts State Police and other area agencies. Costa is also a suspect in a number of other robberies in the region.
He will be arraigned at Woburn District Court.
