Introduction to bladesmithing for beginning and intermediate participants.
BLADESMITHING 101: Blacksmith KnifeLearn to make a very functional high carbon steel knife almost entirely with a hammer and anvil. You will learn the following essential skills: blade forging, material isolation, punching and drifting, heat treating and knife sharpening with a belt grinder.Your experience will be an instructional journey through tools and equipment, material selection, body mechanics, design considerations, forging techniques, basic heat treating principles and finishing methods. You will experience a very active class with an emphasis on hands on learning with hammer, heat and iron. While these 1-day intensive classes serve as introductions to bladesmithing, each participant will leave the course with a finished knife with integral handle.
No prerequisites or experience necessary. Ages: 16+
