Description
WATERFORD, CT — Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint Saturday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the area of Boston Post Road (Route 1) and Willetts Avenue.
The checkpoint is part of the department's continuing participation in the state's Department of Transportation DUI enforcement program.
Through the participation of the Waterford Police Department and the Department of Transportation, the goal is to reduce the number of accidents in which driver impairment is involved.
"Impaired driving is incredibly dangerous and our agency takes numerous steps to educate the public and encourage the use of designated drivers or ride share services. Our officers are highly trained in detecting and enforcing impaired driving laws, so please help us keep the roads safe for everyone," Police Chief Marc Balestracci said in a statement.
