Description
GIG HARBOR, WA — Commuters who need to cross the Tacoma Narrows Bridge are being warned to expect extensive delays Friday, as firefighters and the state Department of Transportation are responding to a pair of crashes in the area.
Update, 12:45 p.m.: the collisions have been cleared.
The first crash was reported at around 11:12 a.m. on SR-16 eastbound at milepost 8.41— essentially the west end of the bridge. The collision has blocked the two rightmost lanes of the road until further notice.
The second crash was reported not long after, along SR-16 near the intersection with 24th St NW. That crash has closed the leftmost lane of the highway.
Gig Harbor Fire confirms their crews are on scene, and are warning drivers that there may be prolonged delays in the area.
