Sarasota City Commissioner Hagen Brody in Conversation with Elsie Souza: A Bookstore1 Community Conversation. This free in-person event is at our new store at The Mark, 117 S. Pineapple. There is the option an $8 ticket to help defray the cost of the event. Registration will end 1 hour before the event scheduled time. About Hagen Brody: At-Large Commissioner and Former Mayor of the City of Sarasota: Brody grew up in Sarasota, graduating from Sarasota High School. Tennis took him out west where he captained the team at the University of California, Santa Barbara before receiving his law degree from the University of Miami. Following law school, Brody returned home to begin his legal career as a state prosecutor. During that time, he coached the Booker High School Mock Trial Team and was awarded the Sarasota County Bar President’s Award for Community Service in 2015. After rising to the Felony Division at the State Attorney’s Office, he left and was elected city wide to the Sarasota City Commission in 2017. In 2021 he received the Key to Sarasota Soil and Water Conservation District for his efforts preserving the 300 acre Bobby Jones green-space in perpetuity and championing the inclusion of a new nature park wetland restoration. Brody currently sits on the intergovernmental Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, the Juvenile Justice 12th Circuit Advisory Board, the Sarasota County Tourist Development Council, and The Bay Park Improvement District Board. .......................................................................................................................
